The Team

Darren Halliwell – Managing Director 

Darren has over 27 years in the structural steelwork sector, having specialised in the project management of some of the most complicated projects throughout the U.K.

Darren and Robert established the company in February 2003, with the aim of providing clients with both a Design and Drawing office that was capable of delivering Quality products on Time.

Robert Donoghue – Director

Robert is a leading TEKLA structures engineer who trained on TEKLA in 1995.

Robert has played a major role on a variety of steelwork structures including prestigious projects such as Heathrow T5 roof structure and Wimbledon's new centre court roof.

Robert is well known for his enthusiasm and drive for achieving project targets.

Howard Lilley – General Manager , UK Office

Howard has over 30 years of steelwork experience. He started as a draughtsman and progressed to Project Manager status.

His attention to detail combined with a great enthusiasm for ‘tackling’ complex geometries within TEKLA Structures make him the ideal choice for leading our Drawing Office Team.

Michael Slack, B.Eng(Hons) C.Eng M.I.Struct E – Design Director

Michael is a leading steelwork designer and has worked on some of the most complex and prestigious steel structures in the world.

His track record on Stadia Design and associated temporary works is something that 3DS are extremely proud of.

Michael enjoys the challenge of providing the most cost effective engineering solutions for a project.

Kevan Butterworth, C.Eng M.I.Struct E – Senior Designer

Kevan is well known and respected throughout the steelwork construction industry. During his career Kevan has been Draughtsman, Designer, Project Engineer, Drawing Office Manager, Site Manager and Contracts Manager.

During his 41 years career at Watson Steel Structures Kevan has managed projects such as Gateshead Millennium bridge, The City of Manchester stadium and Heathrow Air Traffic Control Tower (VCR).
