Stadiums

Arsenal FC Emirates Stadium Roof Steelwork is a testament to the 3DS ethic.
3DS worked closely and in harmony with the engineering team and steelwork fabricator in order to solve the many complex issues inherent in this type of roof structure.
The roof structure for the 60,000 seater stadium consists of Primary,Secondary,Tertiary and perimeter trusses.
The 2 Primary trusses each Weigh 638 tonnes and span 205 metres.
The 2 Secondary trusses (which span 100 metres between the Primary’s) each weigh 103 tonnes. The 32 Tertiary trusses span from the Primary and Secondary trusses to the Perimeter truss.
The fact that the roof was constructed on only two major temporary support trestles lead to some complex geometrical deflections which needed to be resolved. The result was that the roof needed to be modelled with two totally independent geometries. The maximum deflection at Mid Span was over 600mm, resulting in a pre-set model for the primary steelwork and a deflected model geometry for the secondary purlin steelwork.
We are currently working on the New Millennium Dome Arena Roof Steelwork (Over 2,300T) which will cover over 22,000 people. 3DS also worked on the Ascot Racecourse.
